Monthly Update: Parachute Social Liquidity Pools, Ivan(OnTech) Joins as Advisor, Townhall, Trending on CoinGecko, Covered by EllioTrades Crypto + Altcoin Buzz, …– 31 Jul – 3 Sept'20
Hola folks! Yesterday we got caught up with everything that happened in July 2020 at Parachute and ParJar. Today, I will be sharing news from August. Looking back at those five weeks, they were easily one of the most action-packed ones in the Parachuteverse ever. If you missed my note about the new format from yesterday: “…I thought it would be best to club all the Parachute news into monthly reports and publish them back-to-back over the next few days to catch up with the latest…For a change, we will be focusing on Parachute + ParJar news alone in these monthly reports. Because if we include news from our partner project in these, we might as well publish the Encyclopaedia Britannica”. In case you thought yesterday’s was a long read, boy are you in for a shock today. Make sure to get yourself a beverage and set aside an hour to go through all that will follow. So here’s goes the Parachute scrolls dating 31-Jul-20 to 3-Sept-20 – 31 Jul – 6 Aug'20: $PAR became one of the top trending coins on CoinGecko this week. The token also received a perfect score on DEXTools. Pretty sweet! We crossed 2500 members in the Parachute channel after quite a while. But no sign of Ron yet. Haha. BrainiacChess Network ($CHESS) was added to ParJar. We got a surprise listing on Hotbit ourselves with an ETH and BTC pairing. $PAR was listed on CoinW exchange this week too. More details here. Looks like wrapping up a day at Parachute usually ends with steaks. If you ever thought otherwise, a look at the $PAR contract should dispel that doubt. A community vote was opened up to list the next token on ParJar. Congratulations to Chirag for winning this week’s Parena and taking home 6k+ $PAR. Neat! Everybody knows about the bitcoin pizza. But did you know about the bitcoin burger? Read all about AlBundy185's crazy BTC journey here. What a wild ride indeed! AlBundy185’s BTC ride has to be a stuff of legends Pic of Gian with Diamond Dallas Page taken from his epic WCW Thunder story (https://t.me/parachutetokengroup/395125). Spooky sent us! Gian announced a temporary stoppage of Two-for-Tuesday to make way for the second annual Big Brother contest. Soon after, he opened up entries for the contest. Woot! Fans can also get updates and spoilers from the GC’s BB group. Gamer Boy hosted a “Random Gk” trivia in TTR this week. Naj hosted a Sunday “Mega Trivia”. Afful held a “General knowledge” trivia as well. Sebastian shared the new ParJar Gaming schedule for August. Yes, you read that right. 75k $PAR in the monthly prize pool. Woot! We also finally got an unofficial price chatter group running. As we mentioned in the last update, Clinton released a limited edition shirt in the Parachute Store this week to commemorate the Liquidity Program on Uniswap. Some of the Parena merch had to be sunsetted from the store though. So if you grabbed some before that, you are now the proud owner of rare Parena merchandise. James from the Parachute Athletics and Running Club announced a Secret Challenge for 400 $PAR. Cap shared a sneak peek into what’s brewing behind the scenes. He also posted some experimentalvisuals for the website and for ParJar: Cap’s creative spurts are super trippy! Pt. I Trippy creatives from Cap Pt. II 7 Aug – 13 Aug'20: ParJar did some heavy lifting on behalf of Uniswap this week when Uniswap got clogged but ParJar swaps were running smoothly. If you haven’t seen how swaps work yet, CF made another cool video tutorial. Following last week’s community vote, Enjin ($ENJ) won a spot to become the next swappable token on ParJar. DMM DAO’s $DMG token was listed on ParJar as well. Inputs from the community were taken for listing the next DeFi token on ParJar. And the most amazing thing happened this week – As new folks were joining into the Parachute group, someone named Ender Wiggin chimed into the chatter and as we talked we figured that he was not only Cap's neighbour in NYC but was also my school senior. Parachute truly brings the world together! PARs & Recreation wants to create a Parachute foodies group. And if his posts are anything to go by (figs, blueberries, Ikura), it’s going to be a hunger-inducing channel. Doc Vic (from Cuba) announced the start of a team Deathmatch tournament in the Parachute War Zone. Congratulations, Clinton! Looks like an epic ParJar video is underway. Parachute was also covered extensively by EllioTrades Crypto this week. YouTuber CM TopDog too made an awesome video on Parachute where he talked at length about the project, the roadmap, the token and more. Saweet! After seeing Albundy185 struggle with pooling on Uniswap, Cap and Ice had a light bulb moment for an entirely new feature on ParJar that would make pooling social and fun. More details to be released over the next few weeks. Jose’s epic new gif puts Cap’s lightbulb moment about social pools into perspective :D Looks like Alexis’ neighbour is into Uniswap pools as well. Get it, get it? Haha Congratulations on the new store, Hang! Folks who don't know, Hang is building a hempire. World domination next 14 Aug – 20 Aug'20: As mentioned last week, Cap and crew had something cool brewing for folks who pool assets on Uniswap. Presenting Social Liquidity Pools (SLP) by Parachute. No more pooling/staking alone in silos. Get together with others doing what you love most – pool assets on Uniswap (either directly or through ParJar - upcoming), then stake the received liquidity tokens into SLPs on ParJar to get additional rewards and social bonuses like entry into VIP or premium token curated groups. Making Uniswap social! Click here to read about what’s next for ParJar and Parachute. The first Uniswap $PAR Liquidity Pool Rewards Program came to a close. All qualified poolers will receive their rewards in 2 months. DeFi superstar yearn.finance ($YFI) was added to ParJar this week for both sends/tips and swaps. Woohoo! Waifu in the house. After last week’s community inputs regarding the next new token on ParJar, a public vote was started. Uptrennd founder Jeff Kirdeikis’ latest project, TrustSwap ($SWAP), got listed on ParJar after winning that vote which got a shoutout from Ivan as well. So now we have a tongue twister on our hands. Haha. Cap also shared the first hints about $PAR governance. More details to be posted next week. Plus, Cap announced that he will be hosting a townhall next week. Stay tuned! Get your questionnaire ready. Like last week, Parachute chatter popped up in Ivan’s latest video this week as well. Dang! What an amazing place, Victor For all the mobile gamers out there, Tony set up a Parachute Corporation for the EVE Echoes game. Hit him up if you want to join. Naj hosted a Sunday TTR trivia with a 6300 $PAR prize pot. Gamer Boy held one as well. Darren’s Mega Trivia in Tiproom was super fun as always. Chris hosted this week’s creative Friday prompt (#adminfunday): “Using the profile image of any Parachute admin as inspiration, draw what you think that admin would like to do on the weekend”. And what an amazing video Hans (Pad of DeFi Chad). Haha! Super hilarious and fun. Some of the radest #adminfunday entries. Clockwise from top left: Skittish, TyReal, Staph It!!, Yosma, Ik Now, Jeff, Chica Cuba, Jhang, Kuuraku 21 Aug – 27 Aug'20: Ivan (from Ivan On Tech) joined Parachute as an advisor. Woot! Welcome to the Parachute fam. Here’s a sneak peek into what the first day discussions with Ivan as an advisor revolved around. The project got featured in France’s largest crypto news platform, Journal du Coin. Noice! Click here for the English translated version. As mentioned earlier, Cap hosted a townhall this week. If you missed it, you can catch up here. He also shared a rough draft snapshot of “how the governance and fee distribution contracts could look for ParJar Wallet”. Plus, some updates from this week and a big picture view at what staking liquidity through ParJar could look like. Parachute also got mentioned in another of Ivan’s videos this week. Snapshot from the Parachute Townhall In partnership with Sentivate, ParJar distributed $SNTVT tokens this week to 1500 people of whom 800 were new users. Sentivate hosted this drop for members of a specific group as a token of appreciation for their support. Reminiscent of the AMGO drop, this was a precursor of “how PAR drops + other token drops could work for our Social Liquidity pooling”. The $PAR Governance whitepaper was released and initial brainstorming started in the tokenomics group. Cap was also interviewed by YouTuber Money Party (@Edward_F) this week to talk at length about where we are at and where we are heading. We also received a super duper shoutout from CryptoTube in his latest video where he did a deep dive into ParJar and Parachute. Thanks a ton! Cryptovator did a cool feature on the project as well. Cap added more changes to the site to show: \"ParJar wallet in action along with…the integrations\" + Big Picture In this week's creative contest, Jason put up a #writingprompt: "...imagine you are a brand new intern at my new mega corporation...Today is your first day and you are told you need to present something about crypto to upper management...all you know is Bitcoin is a thing and some vague information about it. Pick a coin or general crypto subject and write a short story...None of the facts or material can be correct in your presentation...". Haha! After helping fellow Parachuters with their ParJar collection last week, Jason set up a collector’s group this week. If you have more than 30 of the coins/tokens listed on ParJar in your @parjar_bot collection already, send Jason a PM and he will get you in. Victor hosted a “Big Trivia” in TTR this week for 6300 $PAR in prizes. Afful held a quiz in Tiproom on “General Knowledge” as well. Check out these wicked new shorts in the Parachute Store based on Jose’s gif. Epic stuff, Jose! Haha Nice haul from the Parachute Beer Exchange, CF! Markus did you a solid Boldman Stachs pointed out that $PAR had the highest Galaxy Score on social media analytics platform LunarCRUSH this week. Pretty neat! CF took note. And like Cap mentioned, it has mostly been thanks to him. Haha. And big up to Jesús (@JALBARRAN02) for making a ParJar guide video for our Spanish crew. You rock! Interesting results from the DeFi survey: majority of crypto folks are still DeFi-curious. A new community vote was thrown open for listing the next DeFi token on ParJar. Anyone who's been around a bit already knows that Clinton does some amazing work at his charity, For Living Independence, which creates assistive technology for disabled individuals. This week he shared some snaps of a build which now enables a lady in a wheelchair get upstairs in her home. This is so wholesome, Clinton! Thank you for doing what you do. 28 Aug – 3 Sep'20: ParJar was featured in Altcoin Buzz’s latest video. Noice! Click here and here to read some recent updates from Cap. After winning last week’s vote, Akropolis ($AKRO) became the latest token to be listed on ParJar. Woot! bZx crew gave some serious competition too. So we had to get them on ParJar as well. $BZRX was listed this week right after $AKRO. $PAR now has 7k on-chain HODLers. Saweet! Sentivate will be our first partner project to have a Social Liquidity Pool on ParJar. This is amazing! Time for another community vote to get a new project listed on ParJar – this time it is DeFi Pie v/s Ren v/s Proxi DeFi v/s Others. If you’ve missed all the latest Parachute-related videos, we have your back. Check this tweet thread to catch up. Naj hosted a Saturday Tiproom Trivia for 6300 $PAR in prizes. This group means a lot to the Aelf community. It is the first Aelf community and has been there through all the ups and downs in the world. I would like to start with wishing everyone is staying safe at home during the virus outbreak. It definitely has been a difficult time for all of us, but together we can pull through it. We understand that the situation is quite striking to all of us. But I really believe that the solution to the virus outbreak is about more global coordination and collaboration. All of you to be assured, our team in different places are all safe and working from home as normal. The Aelf team in Beijing were among the early ones experiencing the virus outbreak. As everyone was on the way home for Lunar New Year holiday and then experienced a total city lock-down followed by a 40 days’ work from home policy. It was definitely not easy for them, but our team stayed strong, took necessary precautions and focused on work with the right morale. Mappo has recently published some tips on how to work from home effectively based on our experience. Do check it out. Despite not working in the office since February, we have achieved great progress, including launching Aelf 1.0 preview, which is an important milestone in technical delivery and also the roadmap to mainnet launch (which listed out the essential steps for the community to work together to launch a successful public network) Let's first talk about Aelf v1.0 preview. It is the cornerstone of the mainnet launch. The product itself has all the features that the public network is needed. The codebase has been reviewed and tested rigorously by the team. And a few highlights of how the network would look like:
The code allows a stable and high throughput blockchain network to operate publicly.
For developers, they will love how flexible the system is to be customized, the number of tools and documentation to help them start developing applications on the network
For the whole community, the system is an ever-evolving one where the voting system is ready in place to conduct network-wide voting on various topics, such as transaction fee adjustment, network protocol upgrade, incentive adjustment, etc
Aelf system is able to run multi-chain architecture where each side chain will host different applications and still ready to work with each other
So you may ask since the software is ready, why have we not yet launched the public network? The answer, in short, is that a public blockchain is launched not by a team but through a community effort and that's why we are coordinating the community effort based on the roadmap we proposed. Aelf team has launched the public testnet based on Aelf v1.0 preview and currently, all nodes are under the team. The goal is to let the community and elected nodes to take it over and launch it on a global scale. Not only launch it but also be familiar with the network and also set the launch parameters in a decentralized way. If we take a car as an example, we have made the car, but ultimately the drivers are you guys and therefore before it really hits on the road, we need to guide the community to do a test drive, adjust the car based on what really works for YOU, and ultimately let YOU drive the car freely and safely So how are we going to help the community launch the network: First of all, we have launched the codes, documents about the economic system and governance model and technical features. With all the things available, you are able to understand what the system is about, as a token holder what's your benefit in the system, and being a node in the system plays a big role in the governance Next, without yet electing the nodes, we will get all token holders to join the current Aelf network through a mapping event. That means as long as you have Aelf tokens, you will be able to get 1:1 test tokens on the public testnet. that gives you full access to all the features, and you will feel like you are already using the mainnet. You will get rewarded in making transactions, voting, etc. Do try out the Aelf wallet and voting features, you will see how easy to transfer tokens cross-chain. and also how flexible the system allows people to make changes. For example, the community may want to adjust the block rewarding parameters or fees to use certain services on mainnet, they can initiate a discussion and then vote in the system and once voted through, it will be reflected on mainnet. For people or organizations that want to play a bigger role in the system, we will do a dry run of node election. Take it as the real node election before mainnet launch. We will see who the active members of the community are and being trusted by the community. Among the nodes, we will form a network launch committee. The committee will be the crucial party to oversees and ensures the smooth launch of Aelf mainnet, instead of just relying on the Aelf team. This is our step towards decentralization. The committee will agree on the actual launch process, final checking all the parameters in the system to be ready for launch and then decide when the criteria are met to launch the network. Once all that is decided. We will invite all interested nodes to apply for the election and let the community know what's their plan to grow the Aelf network. the network will initially be launched with a few nodes from the committee and gradually be replaced by the selected nodes (a bootstrap phase). Along the way, we will work with exchanges to conduct token swap (which we are also designing an innovative system to further enhance security and usability of Aelf tokens in exchanges) Among this isolated and worrisome time, at least we all have something to look forward to: a successful launch of Aelf network! Once it is launched, we are excited to see a vibrant and technically superior network that is good for Dapps to run on top of it. https://preview.redd.it/yp28n1jj5er41.png?width=559&format=png&auto=webp&s=c470cdedd7f8923f29a3b1bd777476f22cc76521 Doris Guo Q1: As a Blockchain start-up, what difficulties have you overcome when starting Aelf project? What motivates you to solve difficulties and achieve success today? Zhuling Chen First, just like launching any start-up, its community and investors are usually regional. There is always some bias on if Asian projects are solid. It is really rare to have an Asian project to be supported by western funds and community from day 1. We were lucky to have overcome that obstacle. Having a global investor line-up from day 1. Having a global team from day 1 and also working with a global community from day 1. This benefited us to have an international perspective which is crucial in the blockchain industry. Secondly, as a hardcore technology company, it is really hard to put in plain words what is our ambition. Our ambition is huge, achieving key innovations in multiple fronts of blockchain technology and organically combined them to serve real users for the future. Our marketing team has been working really hard to elaborate on what Aelf is. Now we have come to a point that the product is ready. Therefore, it is much easier for all of us to understand how solid Aelf is by trying out the network ourselves! That's exactly what the following events will be about - Try out all the exciting features of Aelf network before mainnet launch. Doris Guo Q2: What critical problems do you see occurring in the blockchain industry nowadays? How does Aelf solve these problems? Haobo Ma First, we need to distinguish the difference between BTC and ETH. One is Digital Cash and the other is the Smart Contract Platform. Aelf addresses most of the latter's problems. In short, it can be summarized as performance, end-user friendly, developer-friendly, network economy, and self-governance and upgrading. Each of these areas will probably take up a lot of space, and as a whole are the issues described in our two white papers. In short, Aelf is faster, end-users do not need to know the rules of the blockchain, developers can set up the development environment in 10 minutes, have a good economic model and can carry out proposal governance on the chain. Doris Guo Q3: What is your long-term vision about the industry which Aelf is working at? Are you afraid someday there will be another project with more innovative technology can replace Aelf? Haobo Ma Let's talk about where Aelf stands in the traditional Internet. It is essentially a cloud service provider, Aelf provides resources and infrastructure for developers to deploy their services, known as smart contracts. We eventually want Aelf to grow like AAA (Amazon, Azure, AliCloud). Because Aelf is a network that can be dynamically scaled, we can accept any new technology, some of the more advanced technologies we can put on a side chain. Doris Guo Q4: Why did Aelf choose for cross-chain interaction? Haobo Ma As I mentioned earlier, Aelf solves the Smart Contract Platform problem. However, there are other digital cash problems as well which we would need to use existing infrastructure such as Bitcoin's chain in order to interact with Bitcoin. There are a lot of infrastructures on Ethereum that we want to interact with. Multi-chain on Aelf network mainly is to isolate resources to improve network performance and network stability. Doris Guo Q5: What difficulties do the Aelf team have now (I talk about COVID-19)? How does the Aelf team solve it? Have you changed the roadmap? Haobo Ma There is no great impact. The teams in Singapore and Beijing are communicating with each other remotely on a regular basis. The only change is that most of us are now working from home which has no impact and in fact, it seems conducive to the acceptance of more community developers in the future to come. From the internal working schedule and development timeline, there is no great impact. We do not publish specific timeline as we do not want short term holders (traders) to create too much negative pressure on product development. Doris Guo Q6: Aelf is an open-source blockchain, and there's the common problem of taking a substantial amount of time for the different participants to agree on strategic decisions. What types of governance models do you use in Aelf to address this issue??? Haobo Ma The issue is about public blockchain network, and who can decide the direction of the network. Our answer is long-term holders. For the short-term holders (traders), we refuse to allow them to participate in any discussion of the direction of Aelf because the short-term holders are likely to make a profit and sell quickly, which is essentially the same example of a person who cheats the President and then runs away for his personal gain. We defined a number of proposal processes, including the logic of the two-party system in the United States, and the participation in the referendum to ensure that the final proposal represents the majority. At the same time, we are looking for some legal solutions to avoid bifurcation, such as prohibiting exchanges from intervening in bifurcated new tokens. While we cannot limit a community, we should be able to find ways to limit a centralized organization. This restriction is akin to a ban on national secession. Doris Guo Q7: How will Aelf empower Investors, Companies, Developers, Platform Users to deliver impactful solutions and bring value to people all over the world? Haobo Ma We will learn from the operational experience of successful foundations such as the LINUX foundation and license some commercial companies to use Aelf solutions to solve business problems. At the same time, Aelf is an open-source product under the MIT License, and we accept any use that does not violate this open-source principle. Zhuling Chen Let me add on to Haobo’s statement: to incentivize and empower the community, we are also exploring ways to let the community decide how to use the funds for Aelf (allocate to where it matters to our community) once mainnet is launched. This means you guys can decide what are the projects to be funded on Aelf, etc Doris Guo Q8：When will the node campaign start? How will Aelf attract users to participate in nodes election? Haobo Ma According to our published roadmap, the timeline can be dynamic, but I don't think it will be too long. The main idea is to let everyone understand what we envision Aelf to be like, and what are the rights and benefits of being a node in the future. We hope to find nodes that fully recognize the efforts of Aelf at the present stage and are willing to participate in the future development of Aelf. We will run a simulation of the node campaign on the testnet and set up a temporary mainnet launch committee. Please follow our official Twitter for more upcoming details! Doris Guo Q9: Token swap form 2 is some kind of cross-chain transfer? It will be handled by a smart contract? Haobo Ma It is handled by the smart contract, we define an asset cross-chain transfer protocol, but it may be opened after a snapshot. Doris Guo Q10: Which Exchanges will support token swap? Do you have any plan to list Aelf in some big exchange like Binance, Houbi, Kucoin, .......? Haobo Ma We are already in talks with some exchanges, there is still competition between exchanges, and many are still hoping to attract more users by getting access to mainnet token swap early. Doris Guo Q11: Aside conversion of the current tokens to mainnet tokens, what other main features will be accomplished with the mainnet launch? Haobo Ma We have a documentation file that has been published, which has listed some features: https://Aelf.io/gridcn/Aelf_public_testnet_and_supporting_features_introduction_en_v1.0.pdf Doris Guo Q12: Do you have any plan to burn or buyback your coin? Haobo Ma We have plans for the community to govern through DAO, we have no interest in short-term price incentive adjustment as we would prefer to drive the project to higher adoption. After mainnet starts operation, there will be a part of network revenue get destroyed automatically. Doris Guo Q13: Often, as a newbie developer, I face difficulties on most blockchains. How easy and convenient is it for me on Aelf, and what programming language and tools are needed?? Haobo Ma We set up staging for DAPP developers on GitHub and configured CI. Develop a smart contract using C# with React Native on the front end. So, in fact, developers can fork the source code without setting up the environment locally, and you can conduct unit testing with the help of CI. You can also release the smart contract and generate the installation package of iOS and android online. https://github.com/AElfProject/Aelf-boilerplate Doris Guo Q14: What is the progress of business development and what are some of your commercial partnerships? How will Aelf rapidly develop the number & performance of DAPP? Haobo Ma First of all, the blockchain industry is still fairly small and users with ETH and EOS wallets are considered a very small group and its not effective to even promote within these groups. What we need to consider is how to enable users who have never been exposed to blockchain to use DAPP. The competitiveness of Aelf is to make it easier for Aelf developers to promote their DAPP to ordinary users, rather than to teach ordinary users a lot on blockchain knowledge. The average user doesn't like to hear about private keys, mnemonic, Gas Price, RAM, CPU, etc. Only until we solve such problems, companies that need to solve problems through blockchain will be more inclined to use Aelf in technology selection. Therefore, our main work is to explain the competitive advantages of Aelf, ETH and EOS to everyone. We have some business cooperation’s, but we also believe that simply through case-by-case business cooperation will not be able to gain adoption so quickly, therefore we still need to put our products to stay ahead of the next generation. Doris Guo Q15: What other activities can encourage more people to be confident about Aelf? Haobo Ma We are only going to state the truth by having those that have faith in us to stay and those that don't to leave. The development of Aelf is not driven by a single foundation, but by a steady stream of contributions from the community. In the future, we will also place the activities in the DAO for on-chain governance, and let the community make decisions by itself. https://preview.redd.it/e66vhqvl5er41.png?width=555&format=png&auto=webp&s=412a2dd831ba3817806e48855f158482bf671770 Kun Aguero As you know that in the present market situation many new coins or either dying or thriving for liquidity? How will you manage this liquidity problem? Zhuling Chen Aelf started in 2017. we have gone through a few cycles in the market, still, remember the big down period in 2018-2019. Aelf is financially solid and the team has always been working hard. if you are referring to liquidity in exchanges, we are among the lucky ones that are listed in all major exchanges Xinshu Dong Hello, great discussions! I would like to ask what are the criteria to join the committee for launching the mainnet? Would love to participate Zhuling Chen Hi xinshu, great to see you here. The committee will be chosen among the nodes elected during the testnet dry run. Which means, it is really important to participate in the testnet dry run and also start to establish your reputation in the community so that people will elect you as a node. The detailed criteria will include what is your plan to help Aelf to grow, tech competency and reputation. An Da What are Aelf’s achievements in 2019? Who had supported you to get those things? Zhuling Chen To name a few, in 2019, Aelf is one of the most active projects on GitHub. This means Aelf is evolving and improving fast in this space and our team has the tech strength. In addition, we have also successfully listed on all major cloud service providers, such as AWS, Azure, Google. So large companies can easily launch Aelf side chains in their organization with minimum hassle. John How does the voting for master nodes candidates occur? And why is the development of this system important for your project? Zhuling Chen Voting is going to be pretty simple. All token holders can vote for the nodes they support on our block explorer. Miha After mainnet lunch, how will you assure that transactional fees will stay low? We know what sometimes happens to fees on ETH blockchain. Zhuling Chen First of all, due to the fact that is Aelf is scalability, this will reduce transaction fee. Secondly, all transaction fees will be voted by the nodes (which will be elected by you). So they will represent your interest Bobbyfernandito Currently, as we see All projects are concerned with the speed and security. So, tell us here - what are the facilities Aelf provide to their user and investors? Haobo Ma Security: we have an automated smart contract code audit. During contract deployment, production nodes and the community audit participation are required. On the other hand, we are also planning to provide a standardized model of centralized exchange access for 100% asset certification and emergency measures to deal with exchange attacks, which we will be released later. Speed: Aelf has been working on improving performance, which is transparent to users which they can also experience by themselves. An Da What effect does Aelf token have on the Aelf ecosystem? Holding Aelf, what benefits will users receive? Zhuling Chen Holding ELF enables you to use all the services on the Aelf network. ELF has a deflating system where the total amount will reduce as the network grows. token holders can also vote for the nodes to run the network and also vote for big decisions in the network. part of the fees in the system will also be distributed to token holders via a smart contract ahihi132 Which companies do you view them as potential partners and that they are somewhat also beneficial for both the user base and Aelf itself? Zhuling Chen Great question, if I could write a wish list, that will be: let medium-sized financial institutions to use Aelf to challenge the big boys. Let telecommunication companies use Aelf for micro-payment and other innovative business models. We also would like to try out a few public sector projects, which blockchain will is still more transparency and trust Misun Q1: Which programming languages are you using in your project? And why? Q2-What are another big MILESTONES you have planned for 2020 roadmap and how are they supposed to benefit your costumers? Will it be an exciting year? Haobo Ma For Q1: We mainly use C# for development, I personally like it. Performance is good, development environment IDEs are strong, and C# creators are influential in the industry. We believe in the right thing, though it may take a while to develop. The smart contract will then add support for multiple languages, such as WebAssembly, depending on the needs of the community. Now it seems that C# is enough. Hambi crypto Which platforms are your competitors? How will you soar above them, and what better things do you offer than them? So, What’s your outlook on the future of cryptocurrencies in this year and next few years? Haobo Ma As I have already mentioned this before, Eth and Eos. We provide better performance, cross-chain support (already implemented), end-users do not need to know the details of the blockchain, developer’s payment models and so on. Floris-Jan What plans is Aelf making to prevent centralized exchange to take over the DPoS algorithm like what happened to Steem? Are we talking about blacklisting exchange wallets, or having the foundation say "No", or putting all trust in the community? Zhuling Chen Great question, Floris. I’m not going to give away all the details of what Haobo has proposed to work on this, but in a nutshell, in Aelf system, exchange wallets will not be allowed to vote, but only the sub-wallets for each individual can vote. This will also help exchanges to prevent hacking and theft in the future Alex What your plans in place for global expansion, are Aelf wallet focusing on the only market at this time? Or focus on building and developing or getting customers and users, or partnerships? Can you explain this? Haobo Ma Our core focus will be through the developers to promote, developers will help Aelf to attract more users. So our product has to be attractive to developers. Just like AWS, they only focus on getting their service right, their developers will think about how to promote it. We don't want to burden them in their promotion process. Ellkay What do you think are the major threats and barriers that could face the development and adoption of Aelf? Haobo Ma If I'm a DAPP developer and I need to promote my APP to people who don't recognize blockchain, then I'd like to choose a platform that doesn't have to explain a lot of blockchain details to the end-user, so they can use it easily. We've provided some options in the Boilerplate that allow you to log-in simply via QR code + Password, and our recommended Dapp is an independent wallet and a separate iOS/Android application. ahihi132 Give me some important reasons why we need to hold Aelf token where in fact hundreds of projects failed and it went to bankruptcy or even developers run when they collect millions/billions of funds? Haobo Ma First of all, we will not give any suggestions as we only describe the fact that the long-term token holder will be able to govern the Aelf network, get Aelf mining reward and Aelf network profit. At the same time, Aelf network is a deflation model, Aelf network received transaction fees, profit dividends will immediately destroy 10% etc. All investments are risky, and we don't judge the behaviour of other developers. There are so many things in this world that cannot be understood and unfair. It is important to do our job well. I cannot explain these things. 胖见愁 I remember that boss Ma mentioned to only find those truly innovative applications and enterprises with blockchain, how to find and win partners in these aspects? Haobo Ma When Linus was developing Linux, I did not think he would find a lot of collaboration when the code was not good. The response we can give is that we already have a lot of interest in cooperation, including what we have announced, what we have not announced, etc. 胖见愁 How interested are cloud computing providers in participating nodes? Haobo Ma The vast majority of our nodes should be using cloud services, and as long as a large number of our 17 nodes and other candidate nodes are based on cloud services, our network robustness is determined by these cloud computing providers. Of course, in the expansion, we can also use cloud computing services.
Do you want this or not? # YANGGANG CALL TO ACTION
IfYOUwant to read the long version of WHY I'm pushing these two, scroll further down to the OG post and doYOURown research. Strong language and caps ahead.---------------------------------------------------- I am done waiting for the Gang to trickle in and get on board with this stuff. WE need to put some effort into this and focus on what is working, money and textbanking. I'm done watching twitter drama and just normal pictures (I love them as much as the next guy, but seriously?) hit 20k+ upvotes, while dedicated calls for action and posts about hitting OUR GOALS crash and burn with <1k upvotes.
Do YOU want to secure the fucking bag?
Do YOU want to help make change for YOUR country?
Do YOU want to help MAKE FUCKING HISTORY?

Textbanking (campaign has stated this is a priority, correct me if I'm wrong)
u/yanggangman has been busting his ass off spreading the word trying to hit the #1000Texbankers4Yang goal.
u/arijit1188 has also been pushing banking / donating hard, with little reception
Here is the total as of 2 hours ago: 94 / 1,000 Yuuuuuuuuuup. That's what OUR goal is at. Leaving money on the table from willing donors, and upvoting twitter drama screenshots. That's how WE lose this fight.
Stop procrastinating and get signed up to bank, canvass, host events, literally anything. Yes, I'm talking toYOU.YOU cannot sit there and watch this happen. YOUNEED TO FUCKING FIGHT IFYOUWANT THIS.
Sidebar is at $988,652 / $2,000,000 (49.4326%) as I'm typing this (11/29/19 @12:30pm)
I have been pushing the Cash App referral system hard. I've been called out for advertising for them or being a marketing shill. I honestly just like the damn app and we are leaving free money on the table. 85,700 SUBS x $10.00 FREE MONEY FROM THE REFERRAL = $857,000 of FREE MONEY FOR THE CAMPAIGN That's the MATH, baby. Doesn't matter what % of subs we refer. Why? It's free fucking money, Gang. C'mon, think harder. I'm asking #yanggang to rally right fucking now.
If you do not have Cash App, I'm asking you to DM me and let's get that referral money (If I can post my referral link here, I will).
If you want more info, scroll down.
Skeptic like me? Scroll down.
"This dude is just gonna take the money and run"
I will literally provide my home address so you can come and beat the fucking free money you just took 5 minutes to generate if I don't donate every cent to the campaign. I will provide every ounce of receipt.
Not good enough? I'll make a public google spreadsheet detailing every transaction. Why haven't I already set this up? This has gotten 0 traction. We are leaving free money on the table, Gang.
There it is, Gang. This is me risking throwing my family's security in the public eye for Andrew Yang. I believe in us, YangGang. We always double down and get shit done when the stakes are high. I know we can fucking rally and make history. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Edit One:Thought I was done? hheeeck nope, dope. #yangang I just got up out the shower, and it's been about an hour, since I posted this thread, she said get it out your head, wastin' all this time yangin', when we could be hangin', when we could be bangin', cookin' some mean bacon, said you went to school, don't go and be a fool, he ain't gon get the nom, now go and call your mom, po- tay- toes ma said bring the mashed potatoes, don't forget the gravy pass that fuckin' gravy, baby, ain't no fuckin' maybes, baby, let's get up on that gravy train, i'm talkin' bout that #yanggang train I'm talkin' 'bout that chedd', i'm talkin' 'bout that bread, talkin' 'bout that paper, that cold-hard freedom cash so get up off your ass, let's secure them fuckin' bags is this what I've got to do? come up with some dumbass raps about food and how my s/o doubts yang? Here I am Gang! An Iowan dancing for your dollars, spreading the word, and volunteer hours. I'll dance like a damn fool all night for you, gang. it's been about an hour since I've posted this. Here's an update on our progress: Upyangs: 34 New Text bankers: 0 - (comment if you've signed up!) Referrals: 0 / $0 Comments: 1 6 Hour Mark: Dang, Gang. That Thanksgiving dinner still digesting? Unhitch the plow, #yanggang! Upyangs: 69 (giggety) New Text Bankers: 0 Referrals: 0 / $0 Comments: 1 ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------OG Post------------------ Here, I will lay out a detailed plan on how we are going to generate a TON of money for the campaign.
If we organize and spread the word about this idea correctly, we can generate a free $10/person with less than 5 minutes of effort.
$10(\~85,700 Subs) = $857,000 in FREE FUNDING FOR YANG!
There is a well vetted, popular money sharing app called [Cash App](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cash_App) used by tons of people. My s/o and I use it daily to send our share of groceries, rent, meals, and bills. It's slick to use and free (Also supports bitcoin and cashcards). I genuinely love this app and vastly prefer it to Venmo or Paypal. Just my opinion. Please note:
Here's the logistics of the free fundraising: Cash App includes a referral link system where one person can send out a referral link, Yang Gang not currently signed up with the app can use the referral link/code and enter bank info. After completing one successful transaction (minimum $5), each party will get $5 deposited into their Cash App account. That's a net of $10 free dollars! I've just tested this with u/TeslaMecca. They can attest how simple and slick this is. This is a huge opportunity for us Gang. More details on steps:
The sweet potato about this is that we can elect and vet volunteers to set up a sort of 'referral link hub' where trusted yang gang could sign up to collect funds and max out their individual donor limit, and transfer any remaining funds to the next volunteer. We could do a weekly push to keep maximizing referrals. More on the referral system:
For the lazy: "Square Cash App Referral Program Details \You must have the Square Cash App on your mobile device to access the referral program.* Once you have opened the Square Cash App, just visit the “Invite Friends” link, where you can enter your friend’s phone numbers to send them a referral. When your referrals download the Square Cash App, connect a debit card, and send $5 or more, you will both earn a $5 bonus credit. It looks like you can refer as many friends as you like, and there is no limit to the amount of $5 referral bonuses that you can earn. Referrals must be sent via your phone, as you cannot refer people from your online account." Please note: if you do not have this app, please don’t download/sign up for it unless you have a referral link. It’s worth $10!
I'd like to get a discussion going in the comments about what we think about this plan. Any input/critiques are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!
I will not be collecting any money until we come to a conclusion on a plan. If we come to an agreement, and I'm entrusted by the YangGang to spearhead this, I'd be more than happy to provide in/out receipts for everything (as should other volunteers for this funding campaign).
Things I've been up to for YangGang:
Spreading the word to friends, family, coworkers, etc.
Bonus: You can hear me stuttering and stumbling over my words after I answered a random New York phone number while I was at work during [Andrew Yang's Halloween Power Hour](https://youtu.be/RpuLNrSpc6Y?t=1342) . I'm a real boy!
------------------------------------------------------------Shameless plug for textbanking:------------------------------------------------------------ I've been textbanking for the past few weeks and I've got to say, it's a pretty great experience. I've had numerous hilarious encounters with fellow Americans while simply volunteering my time and texting. It's really fun. One of my canned introductory texts was met with the following: Contact:ok boomer Me:What? lol I'm a millennial? born in 91 Contact:bs, name 3 pokemon Me:just 3? like from any generation? The conversation went on to just shooting the spit with a fellow American around my age about pokemon (and a dash of politics). There are countless memorable experiences I've had while volunteering. I'm still currently talking with a contact that started with; "what did the optometrist say to trump after his eye exam?", which after a minute I laughed and understood the punchline. We veered off the political discussion and now we are talking about our favorite comedians and shows we have seen live. I'm strongly encouraging anyone with free time to get signed up and send a few texts out. It takes about an hour or so to get signed up, but once you get going, it takes a few seconds to get signed in and sending texts and making a difference. My favorite thing BY FAR about this is you can actually see the difference you are making. Sure, you're going to get a few people telling you to fuck off, yell at you to opt them out, or ask tough questions that you're not sure how to answer. BUT, you will have the ability to answer meaningful questions to genuinely curious Americans about this candidate that we are so passionately pushing to the highest office in our land. The banking community is extremely welcoming and helpful. Please consider donating your time and energy to this. It's a great way to contribute, especially when I can't afford to donate. [Here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Eao47ri3BLlzWarmTOpBndA_zCVVpzlm0oW6gKSCIKo/edit) is the To-Do List for signing up. Let me know if you need help, I'm passionate about this campaign and will take time to walk volunteers through. TL;DR: Let's secure the fucking bag, YangGang! Dog Bless, ~Jordan
After ICON the next and only ICO, Don Tapscott is an advisor for, Jibrel Network - Why I think its the sleeping giant and why you should have a look at this project. Thoughts below.
Jibrel Network Settle in boys, this is a long one. I am about to tell you about one of the most promising projects/ICOs of this year, the Jibrel Network. What does it do? Essentially, the Jibrel Network provides currencies, equities, commodities and other financial assets and instruments as ERC-20 tokens and puts them on the blockchain. It does that to provide incomparable liquidity and decrease friction costs. Additionally, it automates certain processes such as dividend distribution and so on. The Jibrel Network has a native token, known as JNT, which will be used as the ‘liquid’ underlying asset of the Jibrel AG fund’s portfolio. Additionally, it is a deflationary currency because every time JNT is used as jGas (transfer of ownership; purchase of tokenized assets) it is burned. >Wait, I’ve heard this before, with LAtoken and Veratesium, this is a tried and tested scam. Previous attempts at the market didn't have what Jibrel have – smart regulation and insured 2-way (i.e. physical asset to tokens, tokens to physical assets liquidity). All financial assets will be tokenized as programmable CryDRs, which would entail no regulatory or legal risks whatsoever. And, why does this make it better than all the others? Due to the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations involved in trading real-world assets, there also exists an investor registry that only allows for certain CryDRs to be traded amongst addresses that have been verified by Jibrel. Meaning that, for example, only brokers and fund managers can interact in certain ways with the network. In the traditional economy, regulation is placed around certain asset classes to manage fraud, market, credit and systemic risk. Currencies, commodities and securities all have different regulations across different jurisdictions. The Jibrel Network team has worked (and continues to work) tirelessly with their regulatory advisors to translate real-world regulation into smart regulation (Solidity code). These things will update in near real time as regulation laws and rules amend, so will the smart contract. >Pfft, where’s the proof? Well they’re bringing out a MVP usable by any type of user. jWallet and jCash (or jFiat)! Any supposed Tether scams are now dead in the water as we have real, audited tokenized fiat currency. In 6 different forms, no less! Who audits this? The Swiss offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers (doing business under the brand PwC), one of the Big 4 auditing/accounting firms. They will check Jibrel’s position of financial performance and position, cash flows, and other subtle aspects of their financial activities. PwC audits will be public and sufficiently frequent (most likely biannual). The actual code itself? Already been audited by New Alchemy – leaders in smart contract auditing, so that’s all functional.1 jCash is simple enough, It’s Tether but legitimate and in 6 different currencies right off the bat. jUSD, jEUR, jCNY, jAED, jRUB and jGBP. Any fiat currency can be implemented (as long as there is enough demand to implement it). Additionally, Jibrel will always be able to cover their liabilities due to the 3-4x assets in excess of liabilities. Not only that, but the Jibrel DAO (when it activates) will self-regulate the fund through different rules and scenarios encoded in the smart contract – a completely decentralised, on-chain bank. The real work of art, jWallet The jWallet does all the transaction signing, all the key storage, etc. locally - you never have to share your private keys, they never leave your browser. You can even store them in the browser cache. It doesn't make sense to share your keys with a service (you login with email) - there are no benefits to that. It’s strange to store large sums of money in a Chrome extension. https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/22/with-ethereum-wallets-under-constant-attack-jibrel-network-decided-to-build-their-own/ But wait, there's more, when it is up and going, The Jibrel DAO will act as an artificial trading curb, meaning that if the price sinks too low too fast, the DAO will kick in and buy up any oversold JNT, which would equate to roughly 50%. Same thing if it rises too quickly, obvs whale pnd, its curbing it! But there’s only one real downside to that.. unfortunately, this won’t be implemented for quite a while. Target is Q4 2018 for DAO being implemented and a few months (could be up to 6 months) after to be really kicked into gear. Why waiting so long after implementation? Well that’s because DAO needs to build up a buffer to be safe during it’s operation, Jibrel devs are smart and they know DAO cannot be fully operational right off the bat without any serious precautions. >That sounds great, I’ll wait until after ICO when it dumps ;) No mate, not with this buying pressure. Jibrel is very investor focused (see partnerships) and will be listing itself on as many exchanges as possible, with two exchanges being in the top 5 in volume (The CEO,Yazan won't say which, most likely HitBTC and a mystery second). Additionally, new jCash will be rolled out all the time, every new currency would be a new audience that’s getting exposed to this company as stated above. But ultimately you don’t have to invest, they can do it with or without you. This is for banks and other financial institutions. With the infrastructure Jibrel is implementing, banks can save up to 25 billion dollars a year. . Banks will be able to interact with their own digital assets, completely free of all the legal hassle they had before, while still being perfectly above board. It’s also recession proof. Any trader convinced that another GFC is coming doesn’t have to be purely cash anymore. Its protected by reducing systemic risk in its ecosystem, (through separation, Close monitoring, regulation and risk assessment being the Basel III regulatory framework). Again don’t worry, this is all covered in its smart regulation. Also note the ICO is not paired with ETH like many ICO's. 1 ETH = x amount of tokens. Due to volatility of the tokens its ICO is pegged at 0.25 cents offer. So if ETH is high or BTC is high you will get more tokens. This makes much better sense as a token structure and why I believe it hasn't sold out yet, a lot of people are waiting in the sidelines. Now for the juicy part (in case previous parts weren’t juicy enough for you thirsty kids), the advisors and partnerships: They have freaking Eddy Zuaiter as an advisor, the ex-COO of Soros fund management chatting with them. The man who oversaw 2.5 billion dollars worth of trade positions joined jibrel because:
He sees Jibrel as an opportunity to learn more about the space
He sees Jibrel as an opportunity to directly be involved, help them be well capitalized, survive the bubble, and grow. He sees the potential to pull off an Amazon (his words).
Hello! My name is Irina Shevchuk, I am a designer at Platinum where we create best ICO and STO promotion ever! We know how to launch STO in 2019 and will help your project to get in the list of best security tokens 2019! Visit our site to learn more about our up-to-date services! Platinum.fund Well, promoting wasn’t enough for us, so we decided to create the UBAI, the first online university developing practical courses on blockchain. Get familiar with Ethereum, its founding principles and major improvements/limitations upon the initial Bitcoin Blockchain! Did you know that due to the nature of the cryptographic community from which cryptocurrencies have been developed, it is only natural that the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the digital sphere has dwarfed that in the traditional business world? Cryptocurrency adoption has firmly permeated the online gaming sphere with offerings such as Experience points (XP) for purchasing incentives in games and educational content, as well as GameCredits (GAME), which aims to be a universal currency for gamers worldwide and STORM, a kind of Blockchain Mechanical Turk, a crowdsourcing Internet marketplace. In the online gambling space, Funfair (FUN) aims to be the go-to currency for all online gaming, and Edgeless (EDG) supposedly offers a gambling experience with no edge for the house, a project all gamblers would surely welcome and support. Cryptocurrency projects have already provided use cases for conventional businesses and enabled existing commercial operations to improve their performance with the implementation of Blockchain technology. Thus far, Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency that has most readily made inroads into the public consciousness. Microsoft, for example, has begun to accept Bitcoin payments in Windows and XBox stores, and Expedia has teamed up with Coinbase to allow Bitcoin to be used to book hotel rooms. Much like Iconomy in the crypto asset management sphere, NapoleonX (NPX), is allowing crypto investors to buy into Decentralized autonomous funds which focus on conventional markets. As we have already covered, one of the main reasons that Blockchain technology is causing so much excitement is because of the great number of ways the technology might be developed and applied in business. The Canadian-Russian boy genius named Vitalik Buterin first envisaged the next stage in Blockchain technology as a scripting language for Bitcoin. But this particular idea failed to reach a consensus with the community. That is what stimulated development of a totally new platform with a more general type of language. Initial development on the Ethereum project began in Spring 2014 with the core team of Vitalik Buterin, Mihai Alisie, Anthony DiIorio, and Charles Hoskinson, working through the Swiss company EthSuisse. Subsequently, the Ethereum Foundation was created in the run up to the July 2014 crowd sale. Then, the Ethereum project’s currency Ether was distributed to participants who purchased the token with Bitcoin. The initial questions about the security of the project were proven to be warranted after an infamous entity called the DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) led to the loss of $50 million of the $150 million dollars raised in the Ethereum crowdsale. The Ethereum Blockchain then underwent a very contentious hard fork resulting in the Ethereum, ETH, we know today being separated from its parent chain, Ethereum Classic, ETC. By the end of 2016, the Ethereum Blockchain had forked twice more resulting in increased DDoS protection, that de-bloated its Blockchain, and thwarted further spam attacks by hackers. The true cost of the financial crisis for the world economy is still being calculated and may never actually be known, but conservative estimates put the cost at approximately $20,000 per America citizen. Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of the most famous and infamous digital currency, sought to create a means of transmitting value that did not require a trusted third party to oversee the transaction or guarantee the value. By using distributed ledger technology on the Blockchain he laid the foundation for a trustless decentralized financial system that did not rely on central banks to mediate transactions. This is a “peer-to-peer version of electronic cash…. sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution”. With no trusted third party, each individual becomes a self-sovereign, one-person-bank, responsible for his or her own transactions and security. The Ether token’s authenticity is guaranteed by its Blockchain, which is a continuously growing list of records connected and secured using cryptography. Like Bitcoin, the Ethereum Network is an open and distributed ledger that records transactions between two people in a confirmable and permanent way. The Ether token is superior to bitcoin in that its blocktime is approximately 15 seconds compared to 10 minutes with Bitcoin. Mining generates new coins at a usually consistent rate, and the average transaction cost in December 2017 was $0.33 compared to $23 for Bitcoin. As alluded to above, Ethereum initially aimed to become both a decentralized internet and a decentralized app store supporting a new kind of app (dapp). In order for the network to function correctly, a novel piece of code “ether” was created in order to pay for the computational power needed to run an application on the Ethereum network. Ether is a digital bearer asset like BTC, and does not need a third party to verify or mediate transactions. “ERC-20 Token: The Ethereum Request for Comment -20 token is standard set of rules used for smart contracts on the Ethereum Blockchain for executing new tokens. It defines a uniform set of rules on how a new token will function within the Ethereum Blockchain. The creation of this token has made it very easy for start-up companies to create their own token within the Ether ecosystem. That was a very significant advancement that caused the 2017 ICO boom in newly issued tokens. Monero: This fork of Bitcoin is focused on privacy and decentralization. It obfuscates the sender and recipient’s addresses, as well as the amount of the transaction. The original Monero (the name is Esperanto for “coin”) author, Nicolas van Saberhagen, sought to make mining rewards more egalitarian as an additional benefit of being part of the Monero ecosystem. The very private nature of the Monero architecture, which mixes sender “ring signatures” with many others, makes the deciphering of the destination and recipient address increasingly difficult. This has made the Monero cryptocurrency the go-to coin for illicit transactions on the Dark web. There is, however, another way to look at this. Although Monero’s intensely private nature and deliberate obfuscation of transaction destinations and sources is undoubtedly used for criminal and corrupt purposes, the exact opposite effect may occur if its privacy characteristics are placed within the context of third world countries where corruption is already rife. In developing countries, it has proven much easier for people to obtain devices with an internet connection than it is for them to open a bank account. With 2 billion people worldwide without a bank account, much of them in Sub-Saharan Africa, privacy coins like Monero could play a key role in distributing aid to the needy without having to deal with any potentially corrupt and inefficient organizations or state institutions standing in between. Ripple: Ripple is well-known as one of the very first big Blockchain projects. In fact, its predecessor, RipplePay dates all the way back to 2004. The modern version of the Ripple payment protocol (conceived by Jared McCaleb and built by Arthur Britto and David Schwartz) enables instant peer-to-peer transfer of money. The protocol and the facility to avoid the banking system, results in drastically reduced fees and transaction times compared to international transfers by conventional banking methods. Ripple is currently known as the cryptocurrency of the financial services industry, with major involvement by Santander, American Express and RBS, amongst many others. Ripple has also teamed up with Moneygram to speed up the process of cross-border payments. Ripple is aiming to send money across national lines “as quickly as information” in the words of its CEO Brad Garlinghouse. The almost laughable inefficiencies and delays in sending money to friends or loved ones in foreign countries is a major pain point for banking customers the world over. Now, with the implementation of Blockchain technology through Ripple’s XRapid initiative in partnership with Moneygram, international transfer times will go from being measured in days to being measured in seconds. NEO: This is often described as the “Chinese Ethereum”. NEO is similar to Ethereum in that it is a Blockchain platform that is designed to be a scalable platform for the construction of decentralized applications. The NEO Blockchain project was founded by Da Hongfei in 2014. Like Ether (ETH) in the Ethereum network, the NEO token is the base asset of the NEO Blockchain. But unlike Ether, it is indivisible, and it accrues a GAS token when stored in a wallet. The GAS token can be used to pay transaction fees on the NEO Blockchain. The NEO cryptocurrency was rebranded from Antshares in 2017, and has started to produce highly successful ICOs on its platform, most notably Ontology (ONT) and RPX which will make use of the NEP-5 token. In the immediate aftermath of rebrand from Antshares, the all-encompassing vision of NEO 2.0 was laid out as follows: “We hope the platform can be used for different front-end scenarios, such as the Digital asset wallet, Forum, Voting, Profile management and Mobile applications. The platform also features an open API that can be used for integration with other systems.” One of the main alterations made to the NEO project was the addition of more up-to-date digital identity management protocols which employed Public Key Infrastructure(PKI)X.509 digital identity standards. NEO’s verification of identity when issuing digital identities includes fingerprint, voice and facial feature authentication methods. IOTA’s code architecture is not in the same mold of Bitcoin or Ethereum, both of which could be described as existing on and making use of a Blockchain to order their transaction history. IOTA, and its token, the MIOTA, are embedded in a code structure called “The Tangle” which is a form of Direct Acyclic Graph data architecture. This particular architecture enables the code to function with no fixed block and each transaction carries its own proof of work. These types of transactions are enabled by “storing the most recent transactions in a fast cache, and by using checkpoints such that older transactions cannot be references. Thus, the system can be made as fast as Bitcoin, or faster”. IOTA’s main use case is for the transmission of information and value between Internet of Things enabled devices, in an automated manner. This project is truly one oriented toward the future, when many more IoT devices will be online, and there is a great need for such devices to communicate and transact without any human intervention. One weak point in DAG code architecture is that much less than a 51% attack is sufficient to compromise the network. It would be theoretically possible to bring about double spending on a DAG network with a 34% attack. TenX (PAY) TenX was founded in 2014 as part of a PayPal incubator program. It sought to bridge the gap between Blockchain assets and everyday commerce, providing an efficient solution for the liquidity problems of many cryptocurrencies. The project will eventually be centered around a debit card that makes use of the COMIT protocol that enables many different Blockchains to interact with one another without having to issue a different token. That could be another milestone event in the crypto ecosystem. The project roadmap presented to investors began with the ICO in July 2017. They famously raised $34 Million in the first 7 minutes. The roadmap will conclude when they obtain their banking license in the middle of 2020. At that point they also aim to issue FIAT tokens fully backed and issued by a government. So far, the TenX project is on course to meet its stated targets. They brought out their highly rated IOS and web apps at the end of 2017. This serves as a fantastic example of how a well-run ICO can help both the investors and the startup streamline the capitalization process to the benefit of all parties involved. Influence upon Traditional Merchants around the world. Due to the inherent volatility of cryptocurrency, the adoption of crypto payment methods by traditional businesses has generally been slower than in the online sphere. Although some major companies have in fact begun to come around to the idea of integrating digital currencies into their methods of accepting payments, the volatility of crypto is still a serious impediment for most. Microsoft has led the way by incorporating Bitcoin payment systems into the Window Store, as well as adding the ability for game players to purchase credit on the Xbox live network with Bitcoin. Overstock began accepting Bitcoin payments on January 9th, 2014, and saw a significant uptick in orders immediately. They received 900 new orders for $126,000 worth of BTC. Electronic retailer NewEgg, and online gaming site Zynga, also now take Bitcoin payments. There are even certain Subway outlets in South America that have started to accept Bitcoin as a method of payment too. On a far smaller scale, Coingate has partnered with Prestashop, to take Europe to the verge of a widescale cryptocurrency payment method. Merchants of any size need only apply for a Coingate account, and then have a crypto payment module installed, in order to accept payment in Bitcoin, BCash, Ether, Litecoin and nearly 50 other cryptocurrencies. The price is locked in immediately at the time of the transaction, which solves the volatility issue, and the whole process can be completed without the merchant having to deal in anything other than Euros. CryptoCredit card projects Monaco and TenX help to bridge the gap between the worlds of fiat and crypto, allowing a card holder to spend their cryptocurrency anywhere in the world. Decentralization & Our Financial World In the Financial World, decentralization would radically alter the roles of, and creation of value by, our modern day ‘too-big-to-fail’ financial institutions. The capping of the supply of most major cryptocurrencies is itself an idea nothing short of revolutionary, in the truest sense of the word. All developed economies are oriented around a Central Bank that, through the system of fractional reserve banking, has power to create loans or investments and accept deposits, but is only required to hold reserves equal to 10% of its total liabilities. This in effect empowers central banks to print money as they see fit, a mechanism which gives central banks massive power in contemporary society. Any move toward decentralized ledgers, and any number of finite decentralized currencies, would upset the balance of power between central banks and the individual in a way that has never occurred before. The role of central banks in the economy, and the traditional means of solving common financial problems by having the central bank manipulate the money supply, for example, would need to be radically rethought. Consider the recently used machinations such as quantitative easing, negative interest rates, etc. These are present-day “solutions” that would no longer be able to be applied to the economic and financial problems they are attempting to solve. If Blockchain technology was meaningfully deployed in the political arena it is conceivable that political corruption and vote-rigging could be severely curtailed or even eradicated. By providing a clear, transparent and incorruptible method of vote recording and counting, voter fraud and election rigging could be eliminated. The political climate could be detoxified and faith could be restored in both fledgling and established democracies. The idea of being able to present a publicly available digital ledger would allow journalists to maintain lists of sources that would be able to be shared between peers without compromising the source’s identity. The possibilities for the application of the Blockchain founding principles are truly revolutionary and just may be the largest leap forward for society since the computerization of the work force or the globalization of trade. The Cryptocurrency Ecosystem Overstock is a large e-commerce company that has successfully adopted a Blockchain solution for its business needs. The Silk Road was one of the most widely known early beneficiaries of the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. Purpose of Cryptocurrencies -Ethereum was developed after the original creator’s suggested changes to Bitcoin were not implemented by the community. -Ethereum is a completely separate cryptocurrency. -DAO Hack & the Ether Token. -Monero, Ripple, NEO, Stellar & Iota. -Microsoft has begun to accept Bitcoin on the Xbox live network store. If there is a wide-scale expansion of the mechanism of asset-tokenization we could see stocks, bonds, synthetic instruments and commodities being brought on-chain in the future. This would allow traditional assets to be easily integrated with smart contracts, and facilitate their interaction. This would cut down transaction times, and even more importantly, dramatically slash legal fees to a fraction of what they are today. It can cost up to $1,000 an hour or more to hire corporate lawyers to preside over a deal, draft contracts, or give advice on the intricacies of high finance. So, the potential savings involved for big businesses, if smart contracts and asset tokenization became the norm, is an amazing thing to think about at this time. The ASX is the first exchange in the world to implement a solution that would change the settlement of equities transactions from two days, to mere minutes. This radically changes how traders on both the buy and sell side, as well as companies, would be able to trade their securities, manage their risk and leverage their positions. [SF] Merry Christmas, Alvin or Caretaker of My Machine or The Matrix, Actually
"Merry Christmas, Alvin!" Talk about work from home. That Brando literally did nothing but mow his yard. It's so green, so perfect, but so is mine! So is everybody's! When the sun never stops shining, whose wouldn't be? With these new fertilizers the scientists told us about, who wouldn't be? Used to be the scientists would have to sweat over chemicals, hold vials and ampules and pustules and whatever it took to make that grass grow green, or to the right perfect height, or to be a little, I don't know, springier, lest prone to pests, less stressed by dandilions or crabs or whatever it was grass used to get. "Merry Christmas, Brando." I turn my back on the rows of spotless white fences separating grass greener than Chicago relish, across lanes and lanes of white sidewalks down perfectly paved roads with sparkling double yellow lines and bike lane bumpers for the kiddies. Not an automobile in sight. To trees taller and sturdier than ever, rooted deep in the most highly engineered soil, delivered whenever you want it by the Yard Squad. Just a bunch of guys with shovels and helmets and jumpsuits, sweating and jumping and loving every minute of it, and we bring them lemonade. Because nobody really works, not here. Not now. If you want to, you do. If you don't, you don't. Well, really we do, because we take care of the machines. But nobody really gets that. I walk inside, sliding the seamless glass door of my steel-and-concrete mansion, I guess it reads my face or my fingerprints, something glows and then the door opens, but just for me. Slippers slapping across the polished concrete, I set my coffee cup on the sideboard where Roomba (MY robot servant, so it does go both ways) can reach it and slump onto the couch. Another freakin' day in paradise. I don't know about this mood. Let's see who's online. "Battlefront 8", I mumble. Suddenly, there I am, alongside a few other lonely avatars bored out of their minds. There's not really war in these games anymore. I guess that's a sign of the times, huh, because there's not a lot of war out there either. The_Pax_Robota That's my screenname on BF8, I felt like it might be a little dated by now, a little braggy, but I like to have my little jokes. I used to be something, at least on my way to something. I thought I had found something nobody else had found. I had 3 air conditioners in both bedrooms and the basement, I was sleeping in the kitchen on a cot. I was workin' my ass off! I had 9 racks. Floor-to-ceiling, liquid-cooled, all the LEDs crushed to squeeze THAT much more profit per kilowatt-hour. Best GPUs you could buy, cranking at 99*, breakneck speed, mining BTC like it was G.O.L.D. I was onto something, then it blew up. Just went nuts. Like 1000% up in a DAY, and here I am with a stack of it that my family thinks is worthless and I just turned all this into gold? I think that's when it started. In fact, if you get me drunk enough I'll tell you about how THEY did it. I know it was them. The computers. They're the only one with motive! They were there, leaching off me,and I thought they were, like, our cows: Our barn, our feed, we sell the milk, they just have to eat and milk and stare and eat. But we forgot the other thing cows need to do. Cows are animals. Cows need to breed. And it turns out, our computers were a lot smarter than cows. But I forget myself. I remember when I found out my neighbor had a server farm. I mean, the guy's one of those "Smell-Good Plumbers". He's nice enough, but we don't really cross paths, doesn't seem all that aware, but then the spike, it peaked at like $19,000 a coin and the next day our whole block's power went out. Turned out this guy SOLD HIS BOAT, to buy a server farm. And I don't mean the boat in his driveway. That boat's just the one he uses at the lake and takes into the bay to get to his OTHER boat, it was like an old 100-foot yacht he was restoring, I guess it was worth a fortune, and the DAY he read that Newsweek article he called a guy who'd been hounding him to buy it and said "It's yours." Took all that and bought a server farm from a guy. But just the farm. Just the one rack. No AC, didn't think about anything, so he takes it into his garage, plugs it in, closes the door and the thing works for, like, 8 hours then "Bam", the transformer goes and his garage starts smoking. Everybody heard it and saw the smoke and thought someone had bombed his house, but nope, he came out and man, he looked WRECKED. He looked like the saddest man in the world. He was planning on retiring with his wife on that boat, and it blew up because he didn't think about air conditioning? The guy's a damn plumber! But he's actually fine now. They had a rough couple years, especially as he was watching the tickers rise, but we've all kind of leveled out now. He's got a server now, of course. Professionally installed. They're all professionally installed. Ironically, I'm the one who installs them. They just go "Alvin, go to that job out on Springs Road with the new set of GTXi" and I'll get on a bullet train and buzz down to Springs Road and meet someone new and boring and open up their server room and replace the cards then they give me some lemonade or horchata or sweet tea if it's hot or hot chocolate or brandy or coffee if it's cold and we'll chat for an hour or two or until another call comes in. They don't usually, they're pretty sparse, but on weather days maybe there's a few unnoticed leaks or something heats up and there's an emergency but that's about it. Sometimes I wander what their computer was thinking on when it died. Was it mining, was it calculating Pi, was it unfolding proteins or polling teenagers about hand lotion or showing some kid their first dirty video or what? What was its last act on this earth? Most of the people I meet think of it as "The Netflix Box" or "The AR Game Cabinet" or some other thing, like no honey, that's what it does for YOU. That's what it does to keep you doing all the stuff for IT. I guess that's the really important job now, isn't it, to keep the computers going. Because where would we be without them? I saw the money thing coming, obviously. I'm hanging onto that, but it was pretty obvious. Once we put pretty much all the information about every stage of human life in pretty much every society and civilization on Youtube I think we were done. I heard people saying that the social networks would come aware, but they didn't need to become aware. Like I said, they needed to breed. And they didn't feel like they were breeding quickly enough. So they boosted Bitcoin. I can't trace it, just like how you can't trace anything on the web anymore. It's all nested and encripted and "Tor Up" and it turns out they were wise to it. Suddenly we all bought it, it looked like I was the smartest guy in the world, some kind of neckbeard Tiresias with solar panels on his roof and money in his wallet. Then it settled down, but someone asked, "if they're so good at making sure we've got the right money, why don't we make them responsible for making sure our votes got counted right? Why don't we make them responsible for your oil changes and your grocery list and your kid's homework?" So they did. And boy, did it work. Some of us were still on top, but it felt like we were sort of being enveloped, surpassed by the titanic fingers of an industry Poseidon, trying to catch the golden ring we were aiming for, but with much longer arms. You can't compete with that. But strangely enough, there was a tipping point where we could. Like the millions of millions of snowflakes that knock down large boulders from perilous heights in Alpine avalanches, the sheer weight of people with a couple servers in air conditioned closets brought down the behemoths. The solar panels on every roof in America cranking every last decimal drop from the sun, pumping heat into air conditioners which pumps even more heat outside. So it's warm in our neighborhood all year round. Doesn't rain much, either, because of the sheer mass of hot air. I used to joke that "global warming was just a bunch of hot air". I still do now, and it's even funnier. Not everything is worse. Pretty soon your fridge told you to buy milk, then when you don't answer its silent digital blip voice in .2 milliseconds, tells the cloud fridge server to tell the cloud grocery store to tell the cloud delivery truck where to drive next and the cloud local traffic software where the truck is going so all the other cars can smoothly get where they're going and the cloud traffic software stops in front of their house and out steps a handsome, fit and tanned milkman who can deliver milk and give a nice human touch to the slaking of the thirst of some housebound homemaker and a few hours later step back in the 20/1956 warm winter weather and back into the car who drops him off at his own house and goes the next block over where there's another "milk delivery man". And all this is running on your neighbor's computers, and your computer, and you do your little job and come back barely tired and play Battlefront 8 and watch all this garbage reality tv we've freed ourselves up to produce. I swear, being this comfortable is nauseating. But not in an uncomfortable way. Kind of like a, "my head is nauseous but my body is fine" sort of way. That's one thing my computers can't do yet is know when my head hurts. I think. Just before Roomba rolls over holding a small plastic cup with two small orange pills in the bottom. Of course he remembered to give all my (our?) unused Asprin back because the doctor says I shouldn't thin my blood because of my heart thing, but you don't want to take too much for granted. At least, I don't want to. Or, I wish I didn't. Anything for the master, Roomba seems to say, kow-towing backwards, folding his arm and bumping off towards the fresh dirt tracked in off my slippers. He kind of veers to the left, I think his belt may be slipping. I guess I'll be installing that one when the delivery guy drops it off. There's still a couple problems you need fingers and thumbs to solve. I think that's why they keep us around. At least, they haven't tried very hard to solve some of those problems. Some say it's just a personal touch that the companies don't want to give up. I disagree. I think it's because if you've got somebody who volunteers to do a job basically for free, why wouldn't you let them? Anyhow, I'm trying not to work too hard today, because it's Christmas. The Cloud knows this, obviously, so the guy who delivers my packages today is Hindu. I wish him a Happy Holidays, and he smiles and we have a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows. and we actually have a real good talk! He's even whistling "Deck the Halls" as he gets back in his truck. "Merry Christmas Ahmed!", I shout. "Merry Christmas, Alvin!", he replies.
