Alternative clients - Bitcoin Forum

Bitcoin

Discussion about Bitcoin. BitcoinSV restores the original Bitcoin protocol, will keep it stable, and allow it to massively scale on-chain. BSV will maintain the vision laid out by Satoshi Nakamoto in the 2008 white paper - Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.

Does anyone know what's the take from the libbitcoin devs on the blocksize issue?

In case you don't know: libbitcoin is one of the earlier bitcoin "alternative clients"; their main goal is to build robust backends for nodes-on-servers (as opposed to Core, which has always been desktop-oriented), and also diversify the ecosystem by building a new codebase, so that bitcoin is not vulnerable to a single point of failure in software development (cough exactly what we're seeing right now).

https://github.com/libbitcoin
Their code is used by Airbitz (Obelisk query system) and Coinjoin. Does anyone know what is their stance on the maxblocksize debate?

"The correct thing to do when a critical bug hits software responsible for 100’s of billions of dollars, would be to recommend people to run alternative clients. Of course, those in control of Bitcoin Core would never do that, as it would mean giving up power. Monopoly = Control."

Top mod of /r/bitcoin is threatening to ban a high-profile bitcoin exchange if they support an alternative client software. Downvotes start raining again.

CEO of bitcoin exchange has voiced his support for increasing the block-size of bitcoin. This is a very controversial and divisive issue in bitcoin these days and the top mod (who clearly opposes that proposal) banned any discussion about that. check previous drama for more details. 2nd one.
Today's drama starts here:
"If Coinbase starts promoting XT to customers directly on coinbase.com, Coinbase will be banned."
..
Round 2
..
side drama:
Is it brigading if you follow a link from /bitcoin thread to another /bitcoin post and voted on it?

The BU node incident proves that "some" segments of r/Bitcoin/Core/Small Block fraction have not the decency to accept alternative Bitcoin clients.

I am not generalizing, but what is going on twitter (some people) and on Bitcoin (censoring the fix!!!), it's very disgraceful. Alternative client providers should use this as a good lesson, establish best practices for the future, and move on. It would be pity, if we lower the level of decency to their level.
This is also a reminder for the community, whether you are a businsss, user or developer. Make your own judgement!

Are there any incentives programs for specific Bitcoins that have been mined with alternative clients?

I hope the question is clear enough. Secondly, would it make sense to increase the visibility of Bitcoins mined by alternative clients (e.g., in a wallet)?
